Mike is a thirty year veteran who has held a number of management positions with large national carriers as well as general agencies. He began his career with the CNA Insurance Companies in Chicago, IL. During his tenure at CNA, Mike served as the senior financial officer for the company’s $2.0 billion middle market business unit which included CNA’s Commercial Association Markets (CAM) program division. CAM, an industry-leading program market,  offered multiline insurance programs for tough classes of business including construction. He also served as practice leader for technology and professional services industry group before assuming  P&L responsibility for the company’s Centers of Excellence business unit  which provided centralized multi-line underwriting expertise for a number of distinct market niches such as architects & engineers, medical technology and human services. This business unit  grew to more than $350 million in premium with combined ratios consistently below 100.

Mike left CNA to join the Irwin Siegel Agency as Executive Vice President of operations. ISA, a managing general agency, is a national market leader in the human services field bringing multi-line coverage, including coverage for allied health care professionals, to providers serving the developmentally disabled, behavioral healthcare professionals and community service organizations. His responsibilities included underwriting, marketing, and risk management.

Mike joined a start-up, Specialty Underwriters Alliance Insurance Company, as part of the program management team when the company first went public in 2004. The company was dedicated to specialty program business through the wholesale/MGA distribution channel. Mike worked to successfully launch the company’s contractors program before joining Appalachian Underwriters in 2007 to serve as a member of  the program management team.

Mike graduated with a BA  from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois and a Masters  in Business Administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

George is a thirty plus year veteran of the insurance industry. He began his career with Republic Insurance Group in Dallas Texas. He held positions in claims, underwriting, marketing and branch management.  As a Branch Manager, he consistently made profit and growth objectives for his territories in New Mexico and later in Southern CA. He was elected as an officer Assistant Secretary of Republic in 1985. While at Republic he was the recipient of the first Outstanding Sales Effort Award which was given annually to the territory manager that qualified the most Matrix Automation System sales.  He also received the 1985 Company Representative of the Year from the Professional Insurance Agents of Arizona and New Mexico during his tenure at Republic.

In 1994, George joined Arrowhead General Insurance Agency. He helped launch their first property program, a CA Homeowners program in 1995. This program grew to over $25M in written premiums during the first full year in operation. Later he was elected as Vice President.  He served in various marketing and program management positions while at Arrowhead.

He joined Appalachian Underwriters, Inc. in 2007 as Director of West Coast Operations.  He opened the first underwriting office in western part of the country for AUI in San Diego.  This office helped underwrite contractors and other commercial products for producers domiciled in the west.   

George has been involved in numerous agency and industry associations. Among them, he has been most active in the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society. He has served on the Board for the San Diego Chapter and as their president during 2006/2007.

George is a graduate of Texas Tech University earning a Bachelor of Business Administration. He earned his CPCU designation in 2002 and holds Agents and Brokers as well as Surplus Lines licenses in most states.
